Minnie Bee's Rant:

     Are you as tired as I am of hearing the pronouncements of doom and gloom made by certain conservative candidates?  I am.  I am an optimist and a believer in the durability of the U.S.A. and the spirit of the American people.  Unemployment is trending down.  American manufacturing is trending up.  The stock market is trending up.   I would go so far as to say that the numbers are showing that American resilience, American innovation, and American ingenuity are all alive and well.

     In the meantime, candidates who don't seem to have a better plan to help the economy, and don't seem to care about anyone except themselves and their wealthier friends, want to scare us into voting for them, predicting that if we don't, our country will be doomed.  Some of these politicians even use biblical terms, comparing Americans and American culture to Sodom and Gomorrah.  If this is the case, I wonder, why do they want so desperately to be the president of such a terrible country and such a wayward, awful people?

     I prefer to believe that our country and our economy, as they have been before, are on a path to recovery.  President Obama  recently said that America is "built to last." I agree.  Whoever leads our country for the next four years should have a basic belief in the country and the people he leads.  Our president, as well as others who seek to represent us, the American people, should believe, like President Obama, that the U.S.A  is "the comeback kid. "  It is, and we are.
